Tunic Shirt with Shadow EmbroideryTunic tops are more popular than ever, easy and exotic, this distinctive sheer georgette tunic makes a lasting impression. These long tunics are extremely versatile and can be worn with accessories for a formal occasion or slipped on over jeans casually. These tunics are meant to be worn as loose-fitting garments.
This light green tunic is done with shadow embroidery. Shadow embroidery is a technique that creates mysterious shadow effect on the stitched cloth. It is also known as a Whitework technique. It is done with work double back stitch on the right side of the fabric and on the reverse side of the cloth will be gradually formed a herringbone stitch. These herringbone stitches make for the shadow effect. Another thing is closeness of the stitches. If the stitches are close to one another, a deeper shadow is produced (see detailed picture).
Georgette is an excellent choice for free flowing tunics. The thing that makes georgette fabric distinctive is the crinkly crepe-light texture, which feels slightly rough and dull, but gives the fabric a bouncy, flowing look. The threads used in georgette fabric are highly twisted, which causes them to crinkle as they relax. The weave of georgette tends to be rather tight, but the overall appearance is slightly sheer, since the threads are very thin.
